State school funding covers only what happens during the school day and during the Sept-June school year. So what pays for the bright green Book Cafe van you see in summer neighborhoods? In large part, the Book Cafe is possible thanks to voters in February 2022 who said "yes" to the district's ballot request for a replacement of the Educational Programs and Operations Levy.
Thanks go also to the Snohomish Education Foundation who have repeatedly helped fund the bright green van and supply books each summer. Another partner is the Friends of the Snohomish Library who make more books available each summer.
